KIM Sohee is currently a curator for the Daegu Photo Biennale team at the Daegu Culture and Arts Center under the Daegu Foundation for Culture & Arts.
She graduated from the Department of Photography and Video in university and the Department of Photography Design in graduate school. She completed a PhD in Curatorial Studies. She worked as an intern curator at the Art Sonje Center (2000-2001), a curator at How Art Gallery (2001-2002), a Chief Curator at the GoEun Museum of Photography (2010-2011).
She has developed new approaches to photographic art and exhibitions through her research, writing, lectures, and curating, particularly focusing on the interrelationship between photography and museum systems. She has taught various subjects, including the history of photography, photographic aesthetics, art and cultural criticism, and art history at universities (Hongik University, Kookmin University, Seoul Institute of the Arts) and graduate schools (Korea National University of Arts, Hankyong National University), as well as at cultural foundations and other institutions.
Also as an independent curator, she has curated numerous exhibitions. She worked as the curator of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Exhibition in Korea (2012), the Artistic Director of the Korean Press Photo Exhibition (2012–2020), the Curator of the Seoul Photo Festival (2016–2017) and the Curator of Daegu Photo Biennale(2008, 2018) . From 2020 to 2023, she worked as the Director of the Curator's Atelier and was the Artistic Director of the Busan International Photo Festival 2022.
