BRODBECK & DE BARBUAT is a duo composed of Simon Brodbeck and Lucie de Barbuat, working together since 2005. They explore photography, video, and installation with a poetic and philosophical approach. Their work delves into themes such as solitude, memory, spirituality, and the invisible presence of humanity within the world.
In the series Images of Light and Dancing Spirits (2014–2022) BRODBECK & DE BARBUAT search for what escapes the eye - the lingering presence of matter- through light, ash, wax, and fragments of earth. Guided by Indigenous cosmologies, the series moves between long exposures, microscopic visions, and invented skies, inviting us to sense the world differently. Here, photography becomes a quiet space — where traces of the world surface slowly, and attention turns into presence.
