Gijeong GOO has continuously worked on visually organizing the unstable intersections where the boundaries between nature, technology, and image blur, and where the real and virtual intersect.
A deep realm where no shadows draw combines the artificial ecosystem of a terrarium with digital technology, presenting a complex landscape that evokes unfamiliar sensations as reality and illusion penetrate each other. Images photographed from actual nature are transformed and expanded through 3D rendering and displacement mapping techniques, while the dead branches and preserved moss inside the terrarium disrupt the boundaries between nature and artifice, life and non-life. GOO appropriates the ways in which digital sensibility restructures reality, inserting heterogeneous tensions and subtle fissures within familiar images of nature. Through this, viewers are positioned to contemplate in multiple layers the contemporary environment where the real and the artificial, nature and technology are intertwined.
