Antoine SCHNECK

French, born in 1963, works in Paris

Antoine SCHNECK captures the essence of his subjects—people, dogs, soldiers, olive trees—through minimalist portraits on black backgrounds. Using digital precision and historical methods like wet-plate collodion, he isolates each subject to reveal presence and quiet intensity.

In Puglia, he photographed ancient olive trees, shaped by time and care. Waiting for nightfall, he assembled their portraits leaf by leaf, trunk by trunk, until each tree emerged as a sculptural being. No longer just landscape, the tree becomes a silent figure, confronting us with its age, inviting us to see and recognize other forms of life.
